Troop History

1918

Troop 122 (the precursor to Troop 97) was founded around 1918 with Oheb Shalom as its chartering organization. At the time, Oheb Shalom was located at the Eutaw Place Temple in downtown Baltimore.

1948

Troop 122 folded around World War II, and was re-established as Troop 97 in 1948, again with Oheb Shalom as its chartering organization. 

1960

Oheb Shalom moved to its current location in the northwest corner of Baltimore City in 1960 and the troop moved its meetings to this new location, as well.

2019

In 2019, Oheb Shalom merged with Har Sinai to become Har Sinai – Oheb Shalom Congregation.

2025

Starting in July 2025, troop meetings were held at a series of temporary locations. In October 2025, the troop began holding its weekly meeting at Beth El Congregation of Baltimore, with Har Sinai – Oheb Shalom Congregation remaining the chartering organization.

2026

June 14, 2026 was the most recent Eagle Court of Honor for Troop 97, recognizing the achievements of our 101st and 102nd Eagle Scouts.
